INTRODUCTORY SCRAMBLING SKYE
Guided Hill Walking and Light Scrambling on the Cuillin Ridge
While many summits along the Cuillin Ridge require technical climbing skills and knowledge of abseiling, there are also Munros and summits that can be reached without a rope, relying instead on good hill fitness and basic scrambling ability. We offer guided hill walks for these summits, with light scrambling included.
These trips can be tailored to your group's needs and are perfect for those who want to experience the high peaks of the Cuillin without the full climbing commitment. It's also an excellent way to introduce people to the basics of scrambling and mountaineering, offering a chance to explore the ridge in a friendly and controlled environment. For those who may feel apprehensive about the full ridge, this is a great way to get a feel for it.
This approach also places us in spectacular positions to enjoy the ridge and gain a solid grounding in classic Skye mountaineering routes. While the focus is on light scrambling, we also introduce the use of ropes, without venturing into committing terrain.
We provide a harness, helmet, and belay plate as part of your course cost, along with all necessary hardware, ropes, first aid kits, and other essential mountain safety equipment.
