SCRAMBLING COURSE

This course is designed for hillwalkers who are making the move to more technical terrain where the use of a rope is required in ascent or descent. As hillwalking becomes graded scrambling or easier rock climbing grades a rope offers security and confidence to tackle more difficult and consequential ground. The UK’s mountains offer superb hillwalking but also superb scrambling. The classic ridges of Liatach, An Tealach, Aoanch Eagach and of course the famous Cuillin Ridge often require a rope to safe guard sections.

This course looks at areas such as belaying, using traditional protection to protect pitches and build secure anchors, route selection and an understanding of pitched climbing. We also look at the essential skill of abseiling and retreating safely. Taking coils and rope management is all covered throughout this course.
It is a practical course with all aspects being covered while on a mountain journey where we can practice and make decisions in a real mountain environment.

We can provide a harness, helmet and belay plate covered within your course cost. We provide all the hardware and ropes required a long with a first aid kit and other mountain safety equipment. We have a full kit list on the site and are happy to help answer any questions you may have.
