WINTER SKILLS REFRESHER DAYS

As winter arrives in the mountains, it's crucial to have the necessary skills to navigate and handle the more challenging conditions. We offer refresher days for those with some winter experience who may need to brush up on their skills after a long break between winter trips.

We also provide specialised winter navigation training. Winter navigation can be particularly demanding, even for those experienced in summer navigation. The winter environment presents unique challenges, and it can be unforgiving.

These courses are designed for those who already have some winter experience and need to refresh their skills or enhance their navigation abilities to tackle winter conditions confidently. We run these courses in both the Cairngorms National Park and the Ben Nevis and Glencoe areas.

The course includes essential equipment: ice axe, crampons, and a helmet. Winter clothing and mountain boots are not provided, but you can easily hire winter boots from local shops in Fort William and Aviemore. We can assist with arranging this and pick up the boots before the course begins. All necessary mountain safety equipment, such as group shelters and first aid kits, will be provided by the instructor.
