News #1 Spring 2022

Jo after the lambing storms in the Northern Cairngorms

A bit of a round up of recent times. The winter has come to a close, its been great to be back in the Highlands again, although I was away for the beginning and off the hill for a while its been good to get back on the snow where possible and Im looking forward to next winter already. It certainly seemed to be turbulent in terms of winter storms but seemed to produce when needed. The pre lambing storm period of warm sun, snow high up and dry crags was very nice. It made for a perfect weekend with Hebridean Pursuits in Glen Coe where we took out students on a mountaineering weekend. It is still winter in the hills at the moment with many enjoying ice high up and ski tours on the Cairngorm plateau.

For us though it was time to hit the road for a few weeks before we are back to Inverness for some work in the Alps with Sprachcamp based in the Bavarian Alps. We drove pretty much in a oner down to Dover and across to Calais then on to Oberstdorf. A great area tucked away in the corner of Germany and on the Austrian border. Winter still hangs on in the hills here and it seems deeper into the Alps the skiing is still ongoing. With a few days to spare before work we quickly decided that some day ski tours where the order of the day and started to get our bearings. I shall do a blog specific to the touring over the next few days. It produced some good skiing though with some nice tours in the area. We also started to get our bearings on the local crags so that we know where we heading next week as the work begins. There seems to be a huge amount of climbing here, we focussed on the crags we would be using.

We shall be here in Bavaria for various parts of the summer ahead. Ive been working on a few website and Wild Path things and have added a few new pages including a calendar which I shall be adding various dates and availability for the coming year. Also some changes which should make navigating the site a bit easier. For all course enquiries just head to the contact page and get in touch.
