We have just had a busy end to the summer season. Our last couple of climbing courses which we delivered in a very autumnal Glen Nevis brought the season to a close. It certainly felt like the season was drawing to a close with the weather giving some wet and windy weather and also the first named storm of the season. Although we managed to successfully work with the weather to deliver the course’s.
Andrew and Oliver joined us for an intro climbing course with a lean towards being able to use this on longer mountain routes and scrambles. After some intensive learning in Glen Nevis along with a trip to the Three Wise Monkeys Jo took the team up Great Gully Buttress on a rather wet day. Lucy also joined us for a trad climbing course. An experienced Sport climber who was keen to make the move to trad. We looked in depth at placing gear, building anchors and understanding routes and grades.
I also had a busy week with the last rock foundation course with the army giving us a largely dry week visiting various crags around Inverness.
That rounds off a great summer season of climbing courses, Skye and NW Highland's scrambling and mountaineering and various groups ticking of the UK’s highest mountain Ben Nevis. We have already put on a few course dates for the spring and summer of 2025 with some open courses on the Isle of Skye with traverses and Munro journeys.
Our Austrian Alpine Club course programme is also online now and bookings area open for these great value courses with a range of climbing, scrambling and hillwalking. Take a look at the link above to see the full programme.
For now though its time for a little break and some holiday time and perhaps clip some bolts in the sun. We have our minds now on winter with plenty of people booked onto winter skills courses and mountain journeys over the coming season. If you would like to join us for a winter course then pleas get in touch.
Many thanks to all those who have been on courses and mountain journeys this summer and we look forward to what the winter holds.
